Lucha Underground: A Snake Scorned

August 15, 2018 – Los Angeles, California

Antonio Cueto receives an invitation to Johnny Mundo and Taya’s wedding. He doesn’t think it’ll last. Kobra Moon busts in and demands a rematch for the trios titles. She says the Reptile Tribe is deadlier than ever. Cueto doesn’t buy it, but Moon promises to prove that they don’t need Drago. Cueto gives her the title shot.

Matanza Cueto def. Saltador
Paul London said he wanted Saltador to prove he could do what Mala Suerte couldn’t. Saltador could not, and Cueto beat him in 40 seconds with the Wrath of the Gods. Saltador got disappeared after the match. London doesn’t seem upset. N/A

The Mack and Son of Havoc lament that Killshot doesn’t like Havoc. Killshot rolls in and says it’s just that he doesn’t respect that Havoc was handed his title and that he’s trying to get Mack to turn against him. Mack proved he doesn’t care about him, so he doesn’t care about Mack either. He’s pulling double duty tonight, even though they have a title defense. Then he says he actually doesn’t like Havoc on top of everything.

Cage gets another title shot next week, even though he doesn’t really deserve one.

El Dragon Azteca def. Killshot {Gift of the Gods Championship}
This started as the expected high-flying affair, but turned into a bit of a strong style slugfest near the end. Azteca got the win with his spinny DDT at 6:52. I could have used more of those strikes and a few more minutes of this, though it was decent as it was. **¾

Drago is hanging out on the roof. Aerostar shows up and asks him why he’s stayed in hiding since gaining his freedom. Drago is ashamed of his time in the Reptile Tribe. Aerostar tells him not to be held down by Moon any longer. Drago doesn’t feel deserving of Aerostar’s friendship. Aerostar forgives him and says he hopes they’ll fight together again. Drago is not so sure.

Daga, Kobra Moon & Jeremiah Snake def. The Mack, Killshot & Son of Havoc {Lucha Underground Trios Championship Match}
Killshot wouldn’t stand in the ring with his teammates at the outset of the match, but then fought with them after a couple minutes without any mention of issues from the commentators. More than many trios matches in this company, this one saw the teams actually working as teams. The Reptile Tribe showed off some funky offense for this newly assembled trio. Havoc inadvertently hit Killshot with a super jump, so Killshot shoved Havoc off the top rope. That cost them the titles, as Snake hit Havoc with a shoulder breaker for the win at 8:54 while Killshot watched. The finish was flat, but the match was fun on the way there. After the match, Killshot blames Havoc for the title loss. Then he hits him with the Killstomp. Mack doesn’t like that. ***¼

Cage comes out for a main event promo, but he’s immediately attacked by Pentagon Dark. They brawl all over the building and up to the priest who will be presiding over the Mundo wedding (father Rick O’Shea from Our Lady of Boyle Heights *eye roll*). Dark breaks the priest’s arm and then continues brawling with Cage through the end of the show. Why was the priest there on a night when the wedding wasn’t happening?

Mack demands a match with Killshot from Cueto. Cueto tells him he can’t do it because Catrina has asked for a Haunted House Match with Mack against Mil Muertes. Mack will do it to get Muertes off his ass, so trick or treat motherf(cut to black).
