WWE ECW 177

October 27, 2009 – Rochester, New York

The show starts with the Abraham Washington Show. Tiffany is his guest and she has new theme music that is so absurd I wasn’t sure I didn’t have a stroke. The lyrics went, “I’m insatiable, I can’t get enough. I need to find a boy.” This was the General Manager of ECW. What the actual fuck. It’s also autotune to the point of insanity. It’s kind of like Alexis Rose’s parody of a Paris Hilton song, but without being clever or funny. So I guess it’s more like a Patrice Wilson song. I hate that things like this exist in the world. What was wrong with her cowbell song? Anyway, William Regal and his boys come out to ask for a title match but she says no and that’s that. Her authority is undercut because THAT TERRIBLE ENTRANCE MUSIC COMES BACK ON AFTERWARDS. Regal has a weird tantrum. Silver lining, Byron Saxton is replacing Matt Striker tonight. Well, maybe not quite silver.

Sheamus def. Shelton Benjamin
Sheamus was pulled off this sinking ship and moved to Raw, and shockingly they decided to blow off this feud rather than just ignoring it before he was gone. Sheamus won in 7:18 (shown) with the Brogue Kick. That was received about as well as a wet fart, and was about as enjoyable to experience. *

Rosa Mendes is boring Gregory Helms until Paul Burchill and Katie Lea intimidate her and she leaves. Burchill tells Helms to bring the Hurricane to the ring next week.

Christian def. Yoshi Tatsu {ECW Championship Match}
This was great. Christian did a ton for Tatsu just by virtue of looking nervous after Tatsu’s first roll up near fall. Tatsu didn’t stop there, getting a handful of convincing near-falls that got the crowd all fired up. Both guys worked their asses off here. In the end, Christian ducked the Saikyou High Kick and finished off Tatsu with a diving uppercut and the Killswitch at 11:02 (shown). After the match, the Regal crew comes out and beats up Christian. ***¾
