NXT 29

September 7, 2010 – Baltimore, Maryland

Season 3 begins here, and because it’s ladies instead of guys, a bunch of purple has been infused into the set and the theme song has changed. I can’t say I’m mad about it, I was really sick of Wild and Young. The pros come out to introduce their rookies. Vicky Guerrero has fired Aloisia in favor of Kaitlyn. The rookies all seem to be more athletic than their pros, but we’re not quite in women’s revolution territory here. And given that, we don’t start with matches but rather with a dance competition. The ladies have to dance opposite Michael Cole, Tony Chimel, and Josh Matthews. This is a disaster right out of the gate. Naomi wins the contest, but whether or not that means she has immunity is made really vague.

Kelly Kelly & Naomi def. Alicia Fox & Maxine
Wow, this was a tale of two matches, which shouldn’t be the case in such a short match. Early on, Kelly and Naomi were actually going a really nice job of the getting the crowd into the action. Then Maxine came in and things started falling apart. Then Maxine forgot to kick out of a roll up and the match ended, but she and Naomi didn’t realize the match ended and kept wrestling and oh my god if I was them I’d be humiliated. ½*

The show ends with a capture the flag challenge. Naomi wins that as well, so she won all three segments she was involved in this episode.

AJ & Primo def. Goldust & Aksana
You know it’s 2010 WWE when the main event of the first all-women’s episode of the show has guys in it. It might have been for the best, because Aksana screwed up every move she attempted, and then the finish was botched and they had to repeat the spot. Just terrible. ¼*

The show ends with Vicky Guerrero evil-stepmothering Kaitlyn, but ends up getting knocked down by AJ. Kaitlyn is mortified that she couldn’t impress Guerrero. This season is going to be a rough slog.
