NXT 74

July 19, 2011 – Minneapolis, Minnesota

The show starts with a challenge in which the rookies are supposed to either cut promos on or fight a punching bag with Michael Cole’s face on it. They mostly ignore the challenge, and Titus O’Neil wins the popularity contest as always.

Vladimir Kozlov def. JTG
JTG says that Kozlov loses the belt because he didn’t change his image at all to appear more gangster. Kozlov replies by beating him in the match. I’ve certainly seen worse matches from both guys. **¼

Maryse tells Hornswoggle that she had nothing to do with the gift she received. In response, he grabs her leg. You really shouldn’t have your male babyface inappropriately touching your female heel. It sends the wrong message. Speaking of messages, someone sends Hornswoggle another gift.

Meanwhile, Yoshi Tatsu’s shrine and action figure have now been completely destroyed.

Titus O’Neil def. Darren Young
I thought this seventh match between these two was their final match in NXT. Actually they’d have one more a year later. Bateman tries to help Young win but it’s pretty much ignored because O’Neil almost never loses. This was more on par with their first five matches than their fun sixth match, sadly. *¾
