NXT 205

January 22, 2014 – Winter Park, Florida

Adrian Neville def. Wesley Blake
Blake was one of the lumberjacks in the match that Neville lost to Bo Dallas, but that’s not addressed. This was fine, and I’d say that Neville feels like he’s in stasis, but I have the benefit of hindsight and I know how this episode ends. **

Charlotte comes out of hiding and cuts a rather cringey promo. And then the BFF who is getting a match tonight is Summer Rae so it’s a net loss all around.

Alexander Rusev def. Xavier Woods
Woods is using Brodus Clay’s music because… he’s black? He fared much worse than Kofi Kingston in his Rusev rematch. He did get to control most of the match, but when Rusev wanted to put him down he went right down in under three minutes. Rusev keeps the Accolade on after the match but Sin Cara makes the save. I guess the Hunico & Camacho run is over. **¼

Antonio Cesaro def. CJ Parker
The big swing vs. giant swing spot was cute, and actually very psychologically sound given what we know about Cesaro. Parker is the prime example of how to string a wrestler along and never get him over. One week he gets squashed, the next he wins a main event, then a few weeks later he squashes someone, and the next week he loses thanks to a comedy spot. If you don’t have anything important for him, dump him. Sami Zayn comes out afterwards, and apparently he’s injured. He wants a rematch against Cesaro, but the big man says no. **

CJ Parker interrupts a Miz promo backstage and under his breath actually says what I’ve been saying about him, “I don’t understand, win, loss, the people keep booing me.” The truth that he’s not getting booed, he’s getting no reaction. It looks like he and the Miz will have a match.

Natalya def. Summer Rae
This was about as decisive as it gets. At what point is Rae getting tapped out clean in under three minutes enough to get her to move on to a more interesting storyline? *¾

Bo Dallas comes to the ring to celebrate having the longest reign in NXT Championship history. They drop a (digital) banner to commemorate the achievement. It’d actually be pretty cool if every champion’s longest reign got a banner at Full Sail, even if digital. Neville comes out and demands another title shot. Dallas reminds Neville that it took him 4:45 seconds to earn his first title shot, and that was against a nobody. He claims he could beat Neville in less than that amount of time. Triple H likes the sound of that, so he books a match between the two, and if Dallas can’t beat Neville in under 4:45 then Neville gets the title shot at the upcoming live show.

Adrian Neville def. Bo Dallas [Beat the Clock Challenge]
Dallas wrestles the match in his fancy clothes. Neville playing with Dallas throughout the match was cute. Technically this was a draw, but based on the stipulation Neville is declared the winner. **½
