NXT 386

April 5, 2017 – Orlando, Florida

Royce Da 5’7 def. Aliyah
I dunno, who cares? Couldn’t we cool off from the Iconic Duo for a bit after Royce’s title match loss? I couldn’t get myself to pay attention to this. *½

There’s this weird narrative that Andrade Cien Almas has suffered a string of defeats and is ignoring his wrestling career in favor or partying. That’s a fine angle, except he was winning more than he was losing aside from his loss at Takeover.

Otis Dozovic & Tucker Knight def. Gurv Sihra & Harv Sihra
I don’t review squashes, and this was mostly the same as the last Heavy Machinery match, except that they have a fun new finisher because they’re fun. N/A

They show a nice NXT career retrospective for Shinsuke Nakamura, so he’s on his way out. Bobby Roode says a few words with the new NXT Championship belt (all the belts got redesigned and they all look great, if very similar to one another). And Drew McIntyre has officially signed with NXT and he wants the title.

Oney Lorcan def. El Vagabundo
Elias Samson is so boring that even his post-Loser Leaves NXT gimmick is a Bo Dallas ripoff. Of course, WWE totally underestimated the hipster douchebag nature of the crowd, because now that Samson has a campy side to his gimmick they like him and turn on Lorcan. After a super weird match, Samson is pinned and finally sent on his way to the main roster. **

Well, I’d call this a hiccup in quality, but hopefully when they get back to regular tapings next week (this was the Takeover pre-show) they’ll get back in the groove of things.
