NXT 473

October 17, 2010 – Winter Park, Florida

In the WWE Network universe now, Percy Watson, Nigel McGuinness, and Vic Joseph all have the power of teleportation. Joseph and McGuinness have to teleport from England to wherever 205 Live is that week (I suppose they could fly but it’d be tight or impossible depending on where the cruiserweight show is), and then Watson and McGuinness have to appear instantly in Florida after that. Bray Wyatt and the Brothers of Destruction aren’t the only folks with superpowers anymore!

Rowe & Hanson def. Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly {NXT Tag Team Championship Match}
I guess double main event means one main event to start the show. That’s not really a main event but whatever. It takes a long time for the crowd to get behind the War Raiders because they’ve not done anything of note in NXT yet. There was a cool moment in this match in which Adam Cole tried to interfere and either help or get his boys out of there with the titles by disqualification, but Hanson caught him and tossed him and the ref allowed it. After what ended up being a pretty damn fun (if not so smooth) match, Bobby Fish finally returns and draws a disqualification when he beats the Raiders with a chair. So now it’s looking like Ricochet, Pete Dunne, and the Raiders vs. the full Undisputed Era in War Games. Strong broke out the Sick Kick (a move with a name that I invented) in the post-match beating. That’s important. ***¾

Shayna Baszler def. Britt Baker
I don’t review squashes. Who even is Baker? She quits and cries unconvincingly after Baszler stomps on her arm. N/A

William Regal said he’s decided to finally talk to Nikki Cross about what she knows about Amsterdam Black after her match tonight.

Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch def. Tian Bing & Rocky
I’m so happy the baldies are back. Bing hasn’t been on NXT TV since his blah showing two years ago in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Rocky was one of the seven Chinese guys that WWE signed in 2016, but this is his first TV match. I actually didn’t know anything about the tryout held in China back then until googling it today. Xia Li was a part of that group, and seems to be the farthest along. Anyway, that’s all sort of irrelevant because this is really just about my favorite bald tag team. Total squash, though I can say the Chinese guys are very fit. N/A

Next week, Regal will announce who will get an NXT title shot at War Games. Why would it be anyone but Velveteen Dream at this point?

Jesus Cross nc. Bianca Belair
Belair’s glitter gets all over the place. It’s the herpes of art supplies. This took a little bit to get going, but they wound up turning in a better effort than in their first match. They still need a blow off with an actual finish though, because during this match the lights go out and when they come back on Belair is gone and in her place Amsterdam Black is sitting in the ring staring at Cross. The crowd (brilliantly) tries to get as quiet as possible, but Cross whispers into Black’s ear and he freaks out. ***½

Okay, so we didn’t get finishes in either of our main events, but we got returns from Fish and Black, and that ain’t nothing.
