NXT UK 63

September 25, 2019 – Cardiff, Wales

Ligero def. Oliver Carter
There was no grace in anything Carter did here, and he did a lot of stuff. Ligero wasn’t the guy to reign him in, and the match was clumsy as hell as a result. Ligero won with the C4L in 5:31. Carter isn’t ready for this spot. *¾

In the UK Performance Center, WALTER makes sure the non-wrestler cameraman films from outside the ring as he aggressively trains young wrestlers. He says that this place has no future, which is why he’ll be the champion forever. This is a really strong character. Later, we get a retrospective on Tegan Nox, showing her short run in the Mae Young Classic, her knee injury, and her rehab. She returns next week. Also next week, Isla Dawn squares off against Piper Niven.

Tyler Bate comes out to the ring. He’s sorry that he let down his fans at Takeover, but he’s going to be sticking around in NXT UK. Jordan Devlin interrupts to let Bate know that he’s unimpressed with Bate, and mad that he was passed over for a spot on Takeover in favor of Bate. Devlin knows he can beat WALTER. But then he backs away rather than square off against Bate here.

Nina Samuels def. Dani Luna
This was a boring match in front of a dead crowd. Nigel McGuinness crapped on some of the action in his own coded way, which I always enjoy. Luna’s strength has the potential to be interesting, but it didn’t count for much here. Samuels wins in 5:54 with the Final Act. **

Noam Dar def. Trent Seven
The commentators say that Seven hasn’t wrestled in almost three months, but it’s been exactly two. PEDANTRY! This was fun, though didn’t amount to all that much in the ring. Seven fought hard while Dar got under Seven’s skin by mimicking Bate and putting Seven’s Mustache Mountain towel in his pants. Seven became too frustrated and got disqualified when he wouldn’t let Dar out of the ropes at 9:28. That’s a bummer of a way to close the episode. **¾

This was just filler, and the least essential episode of this show in a while. Here’s hoping the ladies bring the goods next week.
