NXT UK 65

October 10, 2019 – Brentwood, Essex

They start the show by revealing that Todd Philips has replaced Vic Joseph on commentary, and he announces that Gallus will get a tag title shot next week.

Wild Boar & Primate def. Sam Stoker & Lewis Howley
Pretty Deadly showed some personality finally, playing dumb with the referee to cheat behind his back. That was clever. Then Primate made the tag and put an end to Pretty Deadly, finishing them off with Boar and a double diving headbutt at 4:29. After the match, Imperium comes out to deride the animals in the ring. The Hunt attacks, but the numbers catch up to them. That’s pretty impressive as Imperium must be jetlagged after their red eye flight from Orlando to England. **¼

Jordan Devlin def. Jack Starz
After a firey start from Starz, this turned into a squash for Devlin. He won with the Devlin Side at 4:25. After the match, Devlin rants about not being treated like the start that he is until Dave Mastiff comes out for his own match. Devlin bails. Mastiff offers to fight Devlin after his scheduled match but Devlin blows it off. I wonder why they nixed the Tyler Bate feud for Devlin. N/A

Dave Mastiff def. Kenny Williams
I loved Williams trying to avoid an early lockup with Mastiff but getting stuck in it anyway. He landed badly on his ankle and couldn’t keep up with Mastiff after that, falling to Into the Void at 5:15. This was just one tick above a squash, but it was entertaining while it lasted. **

Xia Brookside tries to cut a promo but Nina Samuels interrupts her. I think they could have booked a match between these two without a basic 30-second interaction between them to hype it.

The tag champs come out to thank the crowd for driving them to victory at Takeover. Gallus interrupts to insist that they’ll win the titles next week. Wolfgang is easily goaded by the champs, but Mark Coffey holds him back because their dynamic is delightful. Later on in the back, the Grizzled Young Veterans tell the champs that they’re still after the belts.

Backstage, Noam Dar is ready to be the bigger man and put his issue with Trent Seven behind him after winning by disqualification recently. Seven approaches him so Dar nails him with a sucker punch. Sid Scala books a rematch between them for two weeks out.

Piper Niven def. Jazzy Gabert
This didn’t amount to a ton because it was much more about getting to the logical tag team match than it was about seeing who was better between Niven and Gabert. Rhea Ripley came out when Jinny kept interfering to attack Gabert and feed her to Niven’s senton at 4:38. **¼

Not much of a show this week, but next week has some potential.
