NXT UK 106

I honestly can’t be bothered by the peripheral stuff on this show when there’s no indication that storylines will ever move forward for this brand.

December 5, 2018 – Plymouth, Devon

Fabian Aichner def. Mark Andrews
These two pretty much aped the whole match from Dragon Kid and Susumu Yokosuka, but who can blame them. They even pulled out a Dragon Rana. Aichner also blocked a top rope Stundog Millionaire, which is something that I give a trillion points to because the move is too convoluted and the reason I can’t stand Ember Moon finishes. The match felt a little over-choreographed, but I’d love to see them go at it a few more times and smooth things out. Aichner hit a spinning powerbomb for the win at 9:17. ***¼

Xia Brookside pinky promises that they’re trying their hardest to get back to work. There’s no indication that that’s true, but she’s so fucking cute who even cares.

November 28, 2019 – Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire

Piper Niven def. Jinny
Jazzy Gabert tried to get involved a few minutes into the match and got ejected. From there Jinny actually got to shine, breaking out high kicks that I’ve never seen her hit before. That’s the kind of thing she needs to do to make her seem credible against the much larger women in the division. Niven hit the Michinoku Driver not long after that for the win at 7:28. Decent enough stuff here. Niven calls out Kay Lee Ray after the match. KLR comes out and smacks Niven, so Niven beats the crap out of her. Then Toni Storm returns and attacks KLR also. Though they have a common enemy, Storm and Niven are clearly not on the same page. **¾

Saxon Huxley cuts a promo, so we’ve officially reached the bottom of the barrel. It’s also possible that this is just what happens when half the male roster gets busted as sex predators. Eh, he’s a better promo than Eddie Dennis, anyway.

Dave Mastiff def. Eddie Dennis
Speaking of Dennis. After a rocky start, they pushed each other pretty hard to put on a pretty entertaining power battle. Mastiff looked both strong and smart here, and Dennis didn’t screw anything up. Hell, he almost looked impressive here and there. Good for them. Mastiff won in 11:45 with Into the Void. ***
